(the one which looks like a slice of ham)

i’ve been trying my very hardest to stay present recently because that’s the most simple way to feel alive & make the most of every moment, instead of looking forward to holidays or weekends off i’m living for the small moments in between too ; the spontaneous midweek dinner with a friend or late night signsong drive with the love of my life

i’m trying whenever possible to romanticise my life a little more often, so here i am — saturday evening, made it through a huge week at work & although i was suppose to be joining my fiancé & his family after work today on their camping trip, i know i need a deep comfy sleep tonight which i may not have got in a tent, so i decided to stay home alone

& what am i doing to romanticise this evening you may wonder? well i just ate tortilla (which is my go to takeaway when alone because lewis isn’t that big on it — i however think it’s great, it’s like subway for burritos & tonight i tried the chipotle cheese sauce which is absolutely a new fave) & ate it in the garden reading my book (almost life by kiran millwood hargrave) with a huge glass of wine

now i’ve moved inside — medicube face mask on (the one which looks like a slice of ham), more wine, writing this while listening to instrumental soft jazz & afterwards, i’ll be connecting my nintendo switch to the tv to play animal crossing so i can continue redesigning my island

when i was in school, during the summer holidays occasionally i’d ask my mum to wake me up in the morning early when she’d have work & tell me i was late for school — purely so that i’d have the satisfaction of being able to go back to sleep when i realised i didn’t & sometimes as an adult i still do the same, except i set my alarm instead

because i’ve been waking up at 5:45 all week & doing really long days, tonight is going to be one of those nights, i’m leaving the 5:45 alarm on except tomorrow morning i’ll be able to turn it off, roll over & go back to sleep — i imagine that’s quite strange to most people & i probably lost you at that part but anyways, that’s my evening summed up

being present is something i’m still working at & some days are easier than others, but what a great way to stop & appreciate where we are & what we already have — love chlo
